So this is what I wore on the night! I picked up this 1920's kimono at a vintage market.. I learned something fashinating - when women in japan get married they cut their kimono sleeves shorter, cos the long ones are concidered too sexy.. anyone know anything more about this? I just thought it was such an interesting thing..
But now on to the shoes! or more like shoe spats or what ever they are! I was on the waiting list in miu miu and finally got the call that they are in! the heels from the show was a bit too low for me so it's perfect that you can customise your own heels with these!! next I need to try them with pointy pumps.. I'm in loooooove, I'll get some better pics of them soon.. (they deserve a proper ''shoot'' haha)
have a nice weekend, and if you are in london I challenge you to a elbow fight tomorrow at this vintage fair...

I daresay the Japanese would probably not have thought of a Kimono thrown over a bodycon dress! Now that's sexy. The shoes are so adorable, I think its time to think of an extra early christmas present!
The boots, the dress - amazing.
in love with the whole loook! haven't seen that many kimonos in the streets yet.

:) sorry to say, but that is definitely not a kimono. Yukata, might be.
Just thought I would point that out, cause people always mix those up.

Sulla tuntuu aina olevan merkkivaatteita ja kenkiä ylläs, joten haluanki kysyä mitä sä oikein teet työkses?

Laitatko joskus kuvaa poikaystävästäsi? Olisi kiva nähdä, millainen pari olette :) tosin ymmärrettävää, jos haluat jättää hänet blogin ulkopuolelle! Mahtava asu muuten, jälleen kerran.

What a beautiful kimono - I didn't know anything about the sleeves, that is fascinating. I have quite a collection myself, that I bought in vintage stores when I went to Japan. I tend to wear them the same way you do, draped over a more modern dress

Pairing a vintage Kimono with a Herve Leger mini dress? Now that is some serious fashion inspiration! It shouldn't work, but yet it's brilliant. Those Miu Miu flower/spat/objects are absolutely divine. I am hideously jealous. This look is decadent yet at the same-time extremely chic and elegant. Great post, as per always. X

Hi. Lovely to meet you at the Spitalfields market. Thank you for showing off that beautiful kimono. It was my favourite one! I am very pleased you mix with gorgeous miumiu and the bodycon dress, which I adore.
I will be in the market again tomorrow. Hope to see you soon.
many many thanks,

(you can see my kimono album in my facebook)
you find the most amazing things! that kimono is so bright and the miu miu is beautiful
The first word that jumps on my mind: awesome. It's accurate enough to describe this outfit, so let's go with awesome :)
Loooove the outfit. The colour of the kimono is so pretty as well. Can't really see whether it is a cut kimono or a jacket meant to be used over a kimono put nevertheless, it is really nice. And the 20's vibe is really cool as well. Nowadays all kimono's for young women seem to be just pink and glittering.
As for the sleeves, I haven't heard of anyone really cutting the sleeves, but the kimonos worn by non-married and married women are different. Overall the kimonos young women wear have more of everything. It takes ages to put it on and as gorgeous as I have felt when wearing it, I would not like to do it every day :) I find it hard to explain, but the difference is easy to understand with the below links.
Here you have the kimonos the young not married women wear:

...and here some that are worn by married women:

Ja nyt huomasin muista kommenteista, et sä puhut suomea myös! Tää on kaiken kaikkiaan tosi ihana blogi, sulla on hurmaava tyyli. Ja tää look kyllä painautu mun mieleen niin, et taidan kokeilla lähitulevaisuudessa jotain samantyylistä :)
Love this outfit!
Yes, please send more pics of the shoes, they look adorable
